background
What is ADHD?
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a brain development difference that can cause challenges with focus, overactivity, impulsiveness, and managing emotions. These are more intense than usual and can impact daily life at home, school, or work.
ADHD brains may develop differently. Studies show they might have smaller volume in some areas and take longer to mature, potentially impacting focus and behavior.
ADHD brains might show different activity patterns. This includes stronger connections in some areas and blood flow variations compared to typical brains, which could affect focus.
Though symptoms start in early childhood and continue into adulthood, people worldwide, but specially in India tend to not get tested for ADHD due to the societal structure and financial reasons.
So for many, ADHD is a diagnosis they receive as adults by which time the impact of improper action is profound.
Gaining a deeper understanding
What are people with ADHD doing now to manage tasks?
Due to previous medical research, it was clear that difficulty in planning and organization was a critical area, but we still didn't know what people did in real life to cope with that weak area or what was recommended for them.
So, we carried forward the next stage, which was researching our users. To do so, we initially carried out secondary research - looking at broader advises and patterns that have been established. Then we carried out one-on-one interviews with people who had ADHD & with experts in the field.
From data gathering we discovered both digital and physical tools that people currently used or have tried using & their experiences with them.

Trying to find larger patterns
After all our data collection, we drew out key-points & created an affinity map in order to find patterns & pain points that would act as areas of focus.

Who is our user?
Before working on actual solutions, it was important to define who we were designing for. To do so we created multiple user personas and their empathy maps. One such pair created is shown here.

What we built
Given all the different directions we could branch into, we narrowed down solution given the scope and feasibility of each idea and finally came up with five solutions.
MoodMingle
Moodmingle is an app designed specifically for individuals with ADHD, recognizing and adapting to their varying energy levels every day.
The app's unique approach involves tailoring daily task lists based on the user's current mood and energy levels, ensuring a more realistic and achievable routine.
